This is a beautiful sunburst of golden rutile, with crystals growing epitactic on the perimeter of a flat crystal of brilliant silver-gray hematite. The bright metallic luster of the hematite actually reflects the golden color of the rutile in places, and the overall shape is intricate and sculptural. Radiating needles of rutile start growing immediately from the hematite at the heart of the specimen, making for a beautiful combination of minerals.
