This is an excellent specimen of a fossil sumac leaf, Rhus nigricans, from Utah's Green River Formation. The leaf is complete lobes, and many details have been preserved, including the sharp serrated edges of the leaf, and the main and some of the radial ribs. This 48 million year old Eocene fossil makes an outstanding and very interesting display specimen. Note: the fossil leaves are not painted on. No repair or restoration.
