This is a superb specimen of GALENA (Lead Sulfide) from the South Petrovista Mine, Madan, Rhodpe Mountains, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria. Galena from this mine is often brilliant, with a mirror bright finish, and comes in a wide variety of wild and unusual crystal habits, including modifications of octahedral, cubic, flattened, and even "melted" crystals. We purchased a choice selection of galenas from various mines from a Bulgarian dealer at the Tucson Gem, Rock & Mineral Show.
