Here's a large, lovely specimen of translucent dogtooth CALCITE crystals from Egremont, West Cumberland Iron Field, Cumberland, Cumbria, England, UK. The iron mine there has been in continuous production since 1830, but was worked as early as the 13th century. Calcite specimens from this mien are considered amongst the finest found in England, and are highly coveted by collectors. I purchased this beautiful specimen at the Tucson Gem Rock and Mineral Show this year.
