The inside of this crystal is heavily skeletalized, featuring internal hollow areas where the quartz did not have time to fill in the entire crystal lattice before it was sealed off.  The smoky quartz is a dark, robust brownish black, which is not so dark that you can't see through it.  Inside are lots of clay inclusions, which you could call phantoms, which were also covered over and sealed inside.  In one area there is a bright yellow spot, also enclosed, of another unknown mineral.
