I rarely see anything but apatite crystals from Cerro del Mercado, but here is an amazing specimen of stalactitic goethite – not so surprising since this is an iron mine! The piece is composed almost entirely of stalactites, many hundreds of them in shades of brown, tan and gray, combining to form a magical forest of delicate spires. There is no damage to this highly sculptural and very dramatic specimen.
