The demantoid garnet crystals on this specimen are of excellent quality, with exceptionally high luster. The color is a delightful grasshopper green, and the crystals are very sharply formed with razor sharp edges and glass-smooth faces that really flash in the light. The crystals range up to 10 mm in size, which is very good for the locality. The crystal habit is modified dodecahedral with diamond shaped parallelograms on some of the faces – a very unusual habit for demantoid garnet. There is no damage to the crystals, which stand up nice and tall on the matrix.
