Here is a specimen of the uncommon mineral babingtonite, from the Roncari Quarry in Connecticut, where babingtonite crystals are rare. The crystals are sharply formed and are colored a lustrous jet black and have a brilliant, wet look luster. They sit in a vug in basalt lined with quartz, and there is no damage. This is a rare Connecticut classic; it was collected in the 1960s.
