This is a very choice specimen of BARITE crystals from the Cerro Warihuyn, Miraflores, Huamalies Province, Huanuco Department, Peru. Material from this quarry first began turning up around 2008, and now there are several dealers offering higher quality material than what was initially available. This specimen came from a very unusual find made in 2011, which produced exceptionally sharp and gemmy crystals standing up on matrix. At the Tucson Gem, Rock and Mineral Show, I purchased a dozen of the best pieces that were found from a wholesale dealer who specializes in Peruvian minerals.
