Here's a specimen with three sharp, earthy green twinned crystals of APATITE from the Sapo Mine, Goiabeira, Minas Gerais, Brazil. This specimen, like the other apatites from this find, are considered to be as good as (many say better than) the old classic Panasquiera, Portugal apatites. This piece is a highly representative example of this fine material, with classic gemmy crystals that are exceptionally sharply crystallized, and at first glance appear to be as perfectly smooth as if they had been polished (they have not). The color is quite appealing - a dark fern green hue that is richly saturated. I acquired this specimen at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show this year from Luiz Menezes, the dealer who brought the Sapo Mine apatites to the market, and so has the very best ones available.
