Rhodochrosite stalactites from Argentina's Capillitas Mine were mined out by the late 1990s, and the mine closed in the early 2000s.  This superb and very colorful specimen dates to the early 1990s.  It is a polished slice taken from a stalactite formation with multiple bull's eyes.  These have colorful thin circles of rhodochrosite in thin bands colored multiple shades of red, pink, plus some thin white bands. There is no damage to this excellent specimen from an old collection.
