This is a very colorful specimen of sharply formed red raspberry garnet crystals from Sierra de Cruces, Mexico.  There are dozens of brightly colored grossular garnets on this piece, and they stand out really well against the contrasting white matrix.  The rhombic dodecahedra crystals are sharp and glossy, and while not all are complete (which is typical for the locality), there is little damage and this is a highly representative example of the material from this famous locality. The color is particualrly rich.
