4.7" 100% Natural Vivid Green EMERALD Crystals to 1.9" on Calcite Muzo Colombia for sale
Availability: In Stock
This is an unusually large matrix specimen of brilliant green untreated emerald from the famous Muzo Mine in Colombia. The color of the untreated emeralds is a bright, lively saturated green. The large hexagonal crystal is almost 2" long, which is enormous for a Colombian emerald. This crystal is translucent, and really stands out against the whitish gray, mostly calcite matrix. I estimate this crystal weighs about 50 carats. Because it is a matrix specimen, and because of the bright color and size of the crystals, this is a highly aesthetic and unique display specimen.
This is a very colorful crystal of spring green EMERALD, which came from the El Toro Pit in the celebrated Muzo Mine in Muzo, Boyacá Department, Colombia. Emeralds are a form of green beryl - the same species that produces gem aquamarine, heliodor, and red beryl. We picked out this crystal at the Denver Gem, Rock and Mineral Show, where it was offered as part of an old collection, accumulated in the 1970's. As you probably know, the price for emeralds has about quadrupled since 2008, as investors sought refuge from uncertain financial markets.
