This is a lovely plate of amethyst from Artigas, Uruguay, which produces the deepest, darkest purple color amethyst of anywhere in the world (and this piece is an excellent example of this memorable color).  This specimen is covered with sharp, undamged, terminated gemmy crystals in a deep grape jelly color that is really impressive.
