The almandine garnets on this specimen from Green's Farm in Connecticut are large, sharply-formed dodecahedrons, and the color is deep blood red, with a resinous luster which contrasts nicely with the silvery matrix. The schist around the garnets has been carefully removed to expose them fully, and they are plentiful and undamaged on this fine piece. Now that the mine is closed, there will be no more of these fine garnet specimens, which rank right up there with almandine from Tyrol, Australia, etc.
