In 2014 specimens of almandine garnet in graphite were introduced for the first time at the East Coast Show in Springfield, MA. That was fitting, since the source for this material was only about 50 miles away, in the tiny town of Erving. Taken from a prospect that was originally worked by Tiffany's in the 1890, The new twist on this material is that it has been sandblasted to remove enough graphite so the crystals can be backlit. This reveals an amazing red glow that is truly stunning. On this piece, there are 7 garnets, up to 13 mm in diameter. This is a very fine example of this exciting new material, and there is no damage.
