Here is a museum quality (literally!) specimen featuring brushy bundles of schorl/dravite crystals that radiate out from a central point. The ivory-white quartz-covered matrix provides an attractive contrast to the velvety black crystals. The clusters are nicely spaced on the matrix, which makes for a quite striking specimen, with its rich sprays of crystals, in pristine condition, on a field of small milky quartz crystals. The schorl crystals rise to about 1.5" above the matrix. This piece, which was found in the early 1990s, comes out of the University of Arizona Mineral Museum collection, and includes the U of AZ label and another older label (priced at $475 in the early 90s).
