Here's an amazing stalactite drip specimen of 25 million year old golden copal amber that is jam-packed with intriguing insects of every description.  Under a magnifying glass I spotted what looks like a fly, an earwig, and lots of gnats.  The copal amber formed when sap dripping from Miocene age trees harened, fell to the forest floor, was buried, and evewntually became fossilized.
