Here's a new arrival from a find in Majanga, Madagascar - a large FOSSIL AMMONITE (CLEONICERUS), one of the coiled chambered fossil shells of extinct mollusks. The ammonite has retained its shape and coloring, and has been sawn in half then polished on both sides to showcase its natural beauty. This fossil is dated to some 100 million years ago (Cretaceous period), when it was originally deposited. We found this specimen out at the Tucson Gem, Rock & Mineral Show on the table of one of the large dealers from Madagascar- and I couldn't be more amazed by it!
