6.1" Vivid Gem Purple AMETHYST Sharp Crystals on Matrix Vera Cruz Mexico sale

Many people argue that the AMETHYST from the Piedra Parada locality in Vera Cruz, Mexico is the most beautiful crystallized amethyst in the world. Specimens from this classic locality all but disappeared from the mineral market for many years, but recent mining has begun to turn up a trickle of top-quality specimens like this one from the January, 2013 find. We selected this and a few other very choice pieces from a small lot that arrived at a favorite wholesale dealer's warehouse on the morning of our last day at the Tucson Coast Gem, Rock & Mineral Show. Luckily, we were the first buyer to see the material, so we were able to select some of the best quality specimens in this lot, which was collected after the start of the show, rushed back to the U.S. for cleaning, and offered at the end of the show.
