This is a great cluster of gemmy dark purple fluorite crystals from the well known Denton Mine in southern Illinois. The cubic crystals are extremely sharp, and have a delightful wet-look, glassy luster. There are some small white calcite crystals dotting the surface in a couple of places. The crystals display stair-stepping growth patterns on the surfaces, and there is no distracting damage. This is a good example (and a very attractive specimen) of the material that was found in this mine before it closed in the early 90s. It came out of an old collection that was assembled in the 1980s. No damage.
