This fascinating piece is both a mineral and a fossil specimen: there are two large fossilized Pleistocene clamshell that look like what we New Englanders call quohogs.  The shell of the top clam has a large opening on one side, allowing you to look inside the hollow shell and see that it is full of gemmy golden calcite crystals that gleam in the light.  No damage.
