4.3" Classic YellowOrange PYROMORPHITE Crystals Bunker Hill Ex-U of AZ for sale
Availability: In Stock
Here is an important specimen of pyromorphite from the classic Bunker Hill Mine locality. This piece is literally museum quality, as it came from the collection of the University of Arizona, to whom it was donated in 1995 by Russell Honea, and was previously in another collection (all 3 original labels are included). The piece came from the legendary early 1980s production. This floater specimen is covered on both sides and all around with beautiful and lustrous orangey yellow spheroidal crystals of pyromorphite. The luster is so high the crystals positively look wet, and have extra pizzazz because they are so bright and sparkly. Other than a few tiny nicks on the back side, the piece is pristine. It was thought that yellow and orange globular crystals from Bunker Hill are arsenic-rich, but recent testing proves that they are pure pyromorphite, with no arsenic. The mine is now closed and has been declared a toxic Superfund site.
