This specimen of fluorite comes from the Denton Mine in Southern Illinois, which has been closed since 1993. The crystals are a rich dark blue color, with a touch of violet. The piece is composed of cubic crystals that are sharp and attractive and have some intriguing stair stepping on the faces. There is a subtle yellow phantom hidden inside, which can be seen when the piece is backlit. The specimen has good luster and displays nicely. It comes out of an old collection that dates to the 1960s.
