Crystals of molybdenite (molybdenum sulfide) are rare, and this one is a great example. The silver colored, mirror-bright surfaces of the crystal are brilliant, creating hot flashes of light as it is moved about. The piece consists of intergrown clusters of hexagonal, laminar molybdenite blades, which is typical for how the species crystallizes. This is an excellent specimen from what is arguably the world's premiere locality for this mineral. There is no damage. And, this molybdenum is ELECTRONICS GRADE, the highest quality pure molybdenum, that is suitable as a substrate for atomic force microscopy (AFM), for transistors, and other electronics applications.
