Here is a pair of large pyrite suns sitting in a black slate matrix with lovely white plant fossils dotted all around. This specimen was collected by a coal miner in an Illinois mine, and has been cleaned to show off the brilliant brassy gold color to best effect. The pyrite suns are nearly round discs to over 3.7" with striations that radiate out from the center, and which flash brightly in the light. The contrast on this specimen is superb, and there is no damage.
