This is a very good specimen of a fossil leaf, Aleophylus flexifolia, from Utah's Green River Formation. The leaf is complete, which is rare. This plant is a member of the Sapindaceae family, who's family survives today as soapberry plants. Many details have been preserved, including the sharp edges of the leaf, and the main and radial ribs. This 48-million year old Eocene fossil makes an outstanding and very interesting display specimen. Note: the fossil leaves are not painted on, and it has not been repaired or restored in any way.
