Here is a fine matrix specimen of deep emerald-green microcrystals of dioptase, with a cluster of bright orange, translucent, tabular wulfenite crystals. The piece comes from the historic Mammoth-St. Anthony Mine, which was first worked in 1881, and closed in 1953.  The sparkling, scintillating crystals of dioptase are 0.5-1.0mm in size and are gemmy and lustrous. This historic specimen comes with an old typewritten label identifying it as being from the Richard C. Groom collection, which was assembled in the early 1960s. The wulfenite is pristine, and there is no damage anywhere on this piece.
