1.3" Metallic Silver PYRARGYRITE Crystals Backlit Red Zacatecas Mexico for sale
Availability: In Stock
This is an exceptional specimen of "ruby silver" pyrargyrite, from the famous locality of Fresnillo in Zacatecas. It is crystallized on all sides with striated crystals to .8". The crystals are glassy and lustrous, sharp and prismatic, and are formed in a sculptural 3-dimensional cluster. When backlit, the pyrargyrite glows a deep, blood red; in normal light the color is a brilliantly metallic silvery gray. The specimen is very eye-catching, with lots of crystal faces that flash with hot reflections. There is some minor calcite attached, and only two spots where it was in contact with the matrix, with no damage anywhere.
Here's a fine and rare specimen of PYRARGYRITE from the 425' Level, Santa Nino Vein, Proana Mine, Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico. Pyrargyrite from Zacatecas is famous for its sharply formed cyrstals, high luster, and deep red color when backlit. This locality has arguably produced the finest pyrargyrite specimens in the world. I acquired this fabulous specimen at the Denver Gem, Rock & Mineral Show this year from a dealer who was recycling an old collection.
