Here is a very good serandite from the Poudrette Quarry in Mont St. Hilaire. Serandite is a hydrous silicate of manganese, calcium, and sodium. It is one of the most desirable mineral species from MSH because of its breathtaking salmon pink color. This specimen came out of the famous 1973 pocket (which is now about 80' up the quarry wall!). When I was there several years ago, I found some little scraps of serandite, but nothing like this specimen, which I acquired out in Tucson in the room of one of the best know Quebec dealers. He had uncovered a stash of serandites from the old find in his basement, and brought them out to sell them in Tucson. He had some real treasures, all from a long-gone, classic find at MSH.
